El Meson Rioja Blanco   **Highly Recommended**     £10.20

Very classy! Good intensity on the nose with tropical fruit and citrus flavours. On the palate, fresh and round, balanced with a good acidity and fresh fruit finish. (12%)

Whilst not exactly mainstream, white Rioja is now definitely a 'thing'. With examples like this it's easy to see why. Produced solely from Viura grapes and given 4 months in American oak to mellow, you get just the right balance between ripe tropical fruit and toasty brioche. (13%)

Orballo Albarino, Bodegas La Val (V+)     £13.99      

Fresh citrus aromas lead on to a bright and textural palate with peachy fruit and notes of galia melon, a refreshing saline edge and mouth-watering zesty finish. A perfect match for white fish and seafood. (12%)

Albarino Genio y Figura   **StarWine**     £17.35  

This fantastic Albarino is a straw yellow in colour with a pronounced peachy nose. The palate is bursting full of ripe fruit flavours of apples, peach and nectarine with a fresh citrus acidity and a subtle mineral character on the finish. Absolutely delicious. A big favourite of ours, this is perfect with shellfish such as crab, lobster and langoustines. (12.5%)

Red

Vina Arroba Tempranillo (V+)   £7.60

This is a soft, easy drinking dry red wine full of delicious ripe fruit flavours. Great with tapas or on its own. (12%)

Borgia by Borsao Garnacha (V)   £7.95

Campo de Borja is considered the 'Empire of Garnacha' and Borsao are experts in crafting ripe and appealing wines from the variety. Bright plum and berry fruit aromas. The palate is rich and welcoming with ripe cassis and bramble characters and soft, approachable tannins on the finish. (13.5%)

A modern style Rioja Joven with juicy fruit driven characters of black cherry and raspberry combined with subtle sweet vanilla spice. (13.5%)

Medium-bodied, supple Rioja with just a touch of oak. Ripe plum and cherry on the nose, the palate is smooth with black fruit flavours and some gentle oak spice. Medium-bodied and approachable. (13.5%)

Supple, full-flavoured Reserva Rioja, drinking beautifully. Aromas of bramble fruit with spice and lightly floral notes. On the palate plum and ripe blackberry fruit flavours combine with ample acidity, minerality and earthy notes. Tannins are smooth and supple as you would expect from a wine of this age and it is drinking beautifully. (14%)

Made from old vine Tempranillo grapes and aged for 36 months, with at least 12 months in French oak barrels. Multi award-winning Rioja, it has a classic complex aroma and long velvety body, super smooth and super delicious! (13.5%)

Tres Picos Garnacha (V)     £17.15

A full-bodied, hedonistic expression of old-vine Garnacha grown at altitude. Intense bouquet of mature red fruits with floral notes, typical of the best Garnacha. The palate is rich and well-structured with masses of bramble and ripe strawberry fruit and warm vanilla and liquorice spice. Tannins are supple but evident and the finish is big, generous, and long. (15%)

Aged for 24 months in French oak barrels with at least 36 months in bottle before release. Full-bodied, velvety smooth with a long smoky finish and layer upon layer of flavour. (14%)

Taron Rioja Crianza (V+)    **MAGNUMS**    £32.00 

Bodegas Taron have created this soft and attractive Crianza from a blend of Tempranillo and Mazuelo from their superior vineyards in the Rioja Alta. The wine has been aged in American oak for 12 months, with a further 12 months ageing in bottle. On the palate, subtle oak and smoked notes combine with a rich earthiness, spices, chocolate, redcurrant and cherry. Ideal with roasts, especially game such as pheasant or pigeon. (13.5%)

Aromas of bramble fruit with spice and lightly floral notes. On the palate plum and blackberry fruit flavours combine with ample acidity, minerality and earthy notes. It has a fine structure, and supple tannins give elegance and length. (14%)

Moscatel Sherry, Mira la Mar (V+)  **SWEET**    £8.99 (Half Bottle)

A naturally sweet wine made from late harvest muscat grapes. The wine is aged in the traditional solera system for 2 years which makes it a beautiful pale amber colour. The nose is intense with notes of marmalade, orange blossom and dried fruits. The palate is sweet and well balanced with a fresh acidity and notes of floral flavours, orange, golden syrup and treacle. (15%)

Manzanilla Sherry, La Gitana (V+)     **BONE DRY**    £12.95

Pale, straw yellow in colour. Decidedly tangy, yeasty and salty nose. Lighter, crisper and more crackly than its older sibling - Fino. The palate lures you in with soft apple and citrus flavours, then attacks with a savoury nutty tang, and finishes with a salty reminder of the fresh spray of the sea. (15%)

Fino Sherry, Mira la Mar (V)  **BONE DRY**     £13.95

Pale straw in colour with a typical nose of biological ageing, lemon and almonds. The palate is delicate and dry with notes of salted almonds, white peach and lemon zest. Well balanced and fresh leaving a crisp impression in the mouth! (15%)

Bright and aromatic Chardonnay with notes of ripe tropical fruit. The palate is clean with a pure fruit-driven expression. Mango and pineapple combine with green apple to give a fantastically fruit-driven style of Californian Chardonnay.  This wine wants buttery chicken, pork tenderloin or a mushroom strogonoff. (14.5%)

Bottled with a natural sparkle, this is a great example of the delicious cidre that Normandy produces. And at just 4.5% ABV it is a great session cidre! If you haven't tried Normandy Cider before then you are in for a real treat. If you have, then you know how great it tastes. (4.5%)

Gin

Vineyard Gin, Rude Mechanicals (V+)     £28.70

Every time we serve this at tastings we sell out…it is a really great gin! A botanical compôte of juniper, mandarin flesh, cardamom, peel of clementine, lemon zest & wine. This is a gin that tastes like a gin… just a really good one. Serve simply neat with a cube of ice.  Alternatively, enjoy a generous measure with your favourite tonic. Serve over plenty of ice with a clutch of gently squeezed black grapes and a fresh basil leaf. (41% abv)

Rum

Old Salt Rum (V+)     £27.60   

The first rum ever distilled and distributed here in the UK. Triple distilled and oak aged, every drop is smooth and perfectly sippable. Don’t be fooled by the name, it doesn’t contain any salt. Dark, treacly molasses on the nose, along with juicy raisins. On the palate: a deep yet smooth sip, rammed full of cracked caramel and Christmas cake flavours, with a hint of banoffee pie. All rounded off with a light touch of oak, with gently warming treacle notes lingering long after the sip. We generally prefer Old Salt Rum neat or served with ice. It can also be complemented with ginger beer, ice, and a squeeze of lime, for a truly refreshing sip. Or if you’re feeling extra indulgent, mix up a Maple Old Fashioned, using 50ml of Old Salt Rum with10ml of maple syrup and a dash of Angostura bitters, and stir with ice. Strain into a lowball glass with ice and garnish of orange peel. (42% abv)

Vigneron Rum, Rude Mechanicals (V+)     £28.99

A deep, amber-gold in appearance, with a heady nose of cocoa powder, allspice & toasted hazelnut. Gently nutty & textural on the palate with multiple layers of flavour including Seville orange marmalade, praline and red apple, Vigneron Rum finishes with length, tight grain and slight tannic grip from its time in demi-muids. This is a sipping rum for sure,so a single cube of ice is all that’s needed to enjoy it to the full. Alternatively, as a base for rum cocktails Vigneron Rum’s naturally drier, textural style is best matched to Marmalade Mojitos or a Rum Old Fashioned. (42% abv)
